“Little” Joe Saldana won many supermodified and sprint car main events, including the 1970 Knoxville Nationals, before moving to Indianapolis and joining the United States Auto Club (USAC) in 1971. His USAC highlights include starts in the Indy 500 in 1978 and 1979, as well as winning the 1973 Hulman Classic and the 1976 Hoosier Hundred champ car race. Saldana was inducted into the Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 1998.
